Elizabeth Larkam will teach a live two-hour workshop customized for the personal and professional practice of pediatric physical therapists, occupational therapists and movement practitioners.
The workshop will consist of 90 minutes of guided movement practice followed by 30 minutes of Q&A and discussion.
A reference list will be provided to registrants.
The guided movement sequences will use a sturdy vertical wall. An exercise mat for cushioning and a stool will enhance your comfort.
The unique movement sequences include instruction and guided practice in:
*Coherent nose breathing
*Nitric Oxide stimulation
*Humming to stimulate release of nitric oxide in the parasinuses
*Tapping on acupuncture meridian endpoints located on the face and upper thorax
*Crossing the midline with the hands during EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) tapping
*Visual and vestibular stimulation integrating eye gaze with head and neck movements
*Oscillations in prone, sidelying, supine, quadruped, seated, standing
*Standing or seated oscillations in spine orientations of lateral flexion, rotation, extension, flexion
*Rhythmic wall jumps with hands on wall in standing or sitting
*Rhythmic wall jumps with one foot on wall in quadruped

About Elizabeth Larkam: Elizabeth Larkam, National Certified Pilates Teacher, is a pioneer of the Pilates Method Alliance® initiative Heroes in Motion®. She was awarded the Medal of the Danish Society of Military Medicine in recognition of her efforts to improve the rehabilitation of wounded soldiers. Elizabeth authored the book Fascia in Motion: Fascia-focused movement for Pilates (Handspring, September 2017) and the Pilates chapter for the book Fascia in Sport and Movement (Handspring, 2015, second edition 2021). She is co-editor of the book in preparation, Pilates Applications for Health Conditions: Case Reports and Perspectives (Handspring, 2021). As a Dancemedicine Pilates Specialist at Saint Francis Memorial Hospital, 1985-2000, Elizabeth developed Pilates programs for orthopedic, spine and chronic pain diagnoses. As Director of Pilates & Beyond for Western Athletic Clubs, she helped create the internationally acclaimed Mind & Body Center at The San Francisco Bay Club. Elizabeth is a Feldenkrais® practitioner and a Gyrotonic® and Gyrokinesis® instructor qualified in specialized equipment. She filmed 50 programs for PilatesAnytime.com and ten for fusionpilatesedu.com. She is a Balanced Body Master Instructor and Mentor. Elizabeth participated in eight dissection lab courses taught by master dissectors Carla Stecco, Gill Hedley and Todd Garcia. She taught the movement component of dissection courses hosted by Tom Myers Anatomy Trains and by Balanced Body Pilates. Elizabeth is a participant in the Fascial Net Plastination Project, which is sponsored by the Fascia Research Society at the Plastinarium in Guben, Germany. She hosts the webinars ‘Moved to Learn!’ and ‘Pilates Applications for Health Conditions” produced by Handspring Publishing 2020-2022 for movement educators and manual therapists. Elizabeth is a presenter on BiotensegriTea webinars, the Integrated Biotensegrity conference, Fascia Hub, British Fascia Symposium, Pilates on Tour and Pilates Summit. Elizabeth’s case presentation of her work with a traumatic brain injury client age 11-13 has been presented in professional conferences on five continents.
